Luxury property development and construction group Traders In Purple has gained development approval for 76 mid-rise apartments with direct frontage to Pymble Golf Course on Sydney’s upper north shore.

Set in two six-storey buildings, apartments offer panoramic views of the golf course and William Cowan Oval and St Ives Village Green, on a generous 5,900sqm site.

Traders In Purple acquired the Cowan Road, St Ives site last year with an existing approval for townhouses but went back to the drawing board to create a collection of beautiful and liveable apartments that align with customer preference for single level living.

The apartments, launching in early 2027, will offer two, three and four bedrooms with expansive balconies designed to capture views of the golf course directly in front and parklands opposite.

The sense of being surrounded by green will be extended with a focus on landscaping that draws inspiration from Ku-ring-gai’s treasured Blue Gum High Forest and the impressive gardens that are a standout feature of Cowan Road’s prestige homes.

Set well back from the street with a landscaped frontage and low sandstone wall, the two buildings are connected via a glass pavilion overlooking private resident gardens, meandering pathways and the manicured greens and tall blue gums of Sydney’s prettiest parkland golf course.

Residents will also have access to a shared rooftop with outdoor dining to entertain friends and family while taking in stunning views.

Approval for the St Ives site comes just weeks after Traders In Purple broke ground on another boutique luxury project, Finrose in the heart of Lane Cove, and launched Orleton its second riverfront project in Brisbane’s West End.

Traders In Purple CEO Brett Robinson said with the St Ives development approval secured, the group would accelerate plans for an early 2027 launch.

“We are extremely pleased to have gained approval for a project that we are confident will be in high demand amongst local downsizers and families,” said Mr Robinson.

“It is a competitive market but we have by far the best location in St Ives, offering a rare position right on Pymble Golf Course and opposite William Cowan Oval.

“St Ives Shopping Village with supermarkets, specialty stores and cafes is only a few minutes’ walk and it’s just three minutes by car to the largest surviving remnant of Blue Gum High Forest in the Sydney region.”

Mr Robinson said Traders In Purple had applied its deep experience creating beautiful luxury homes tailored to the lifestyle of its customers, with an emphasis on space, light, views and quality finishes.

“After 20 years specialising in luxury apartments designed for owner occupiers, we know this market extremely well; their expectations moving from a large family home, the design details they value and the lifestyle they envisage, including frequent travel.

“Having a home that can accommodate visiting family members is another important consideration and this is reflected in the predominance of three and four bedroom apartments, many with a multi-purpose room.”

Care has been taken to design the buildings in keeping with the character of St Ives with the upper two levels set back to read as four levels. Including affordable housing would have enabled an additional two storeys under the applicable planning provisions.

However, Traders In Purple determined that the resulting height and scale would not be appropriate for this setting, having regard to the established character of the surrounding community and the importance of maintaining a development outcome that sits comfortably within the local streetscape.

The material palette reflects the Federation heritage of the neighbourhood, emphasising sandstone and brick with extensive glazing to maximise views and light.
