Traders handover keys to affordable rental homes in Corrimal

Traders In Purple is pleased to celebrate the official opening of our community housing project – Correa Gardens, Corrimal. Described as “one of the largest investments to provide a safe and secure home for everyone” by Housing Trust CEO Michele Adair, our $22 million Corrimal project officially opened on the 18th Oct 2021, providing much needed affordable rental accommodation in the region.

Comprising of 34 quality new homes, the project includes a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom town homes, offering high-value accessible housing to young families, couples and singles.

Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said the mixed-tenure housing project was delivered in partnership between the NSW Government, Traders In Purple and Housing Trust.

“By partnering with the private sector and Community Housing Providers (CHP) we are able to fast track project to keep up with the demand for housing in NSW.

“Given the rental challenges in Wollongong, and across the state, it will provide up to 70 people with a place to call home,” Mrs. Pavey said.

A short note from our Director, Charles Daoud on what a project like Correa Gardens means to Traders In Purple;

“This project ensures the vulnerable and those down on their luck in our community have a safe place to call home. Much more is needed and we hope this is only just the beginning. Our next project in this space will commence next year and we hope for many more in the region beyond that. We were given an insight into the lives of some of the people who will be occupying the new homes. One is an 84 year old homeless women currently living on a friends couch. Another is a 56 year old man with physical disabilities coming from very unsuitable accommodation. Providing a forever home for these people and others is our work’s best reward.

Thank you to all our subcontractors, suppliers and consultants for being part of this rewarding project. This is your achievement as much as it is ours. Feel proud of your participation.

Hopefully we encourage many other projects like this. Thank you to the NSW State Government for their faith in us and our community housing partner and new owner of the project, Housing Trust, and their executive team led by Michele Adair.”
